Her latest work, When Words Fail: A Photographic Journey through New York City, marks a personal and artistic journey. After the sudden loss of her husband of 29 years, Lawrence Otis Graham, she turned to photography as a means of solace and expression.

This book captures her poignant exploration of New York City at twilight, reflecting a path from grief to acceptance, illuminated by the city’s myriad lights.

Thomas-Graham resides in New York City, and serves as a member of the Photography Committee of the Whitney Museum and as a trustee of the Aperture Foundation.
